What To Expect
We understand that saying goodbye to your beloved pet is one of the most difficult experiences. Our goal is to make this process as peaceful and supportive as possible.
When Dr. O'Leary arrives, she takes time to meet everyone, ensuring your pet feels at ease in their familiar surroundings. The procedure is performed where your pet is most comfortable, whether it's on their favorite bed, couch, or in the yard.
Dr. O'Leary first administers a gentle sedative to bring your pet into a calm, unconscious state. This medicine is administered under the skin and will take between 5-10 minutes to have it's full effect. Once unconscious, a second injection is given IV. This medicine is just an anesthesia in a very generous dose. It deepens the unconscious state until your beloved pet peacefully passes away. This process is dignified and painless.
Throughout this emotional time, we offer various keepsake options such as paw prints or fur clippings to honor your pet's memory. Additional options include ink pawprints or noseprints for a lasting tribute.
After you've said your goodbyes, Dr. O'Leary provides privacy and, if you've chosen our aftercare services, prepares your pet for transport to the crematory. Every step is handled with the utmost care and respect, ensuring a peaceful transition for your beloved companion.
